It certainly wasn't pretty for most of the night, Bremerfans. Bremerton West, try as they might, were once again knocked down by a poor all-around shooting performance culminating in a 6th place finish in the Men's 'C' Division Tuesday night league. Much of the talk at the post-game was focused on the lopsided foul dispersion. Team RED was called for but one foul in the second half, while the Westies were whistled a robust eleven times.
"No comment," Coach Sargent quipped after the game. "I'm not using this as an excuse, but you can see for yourself the difference the officiating makes."
Matt Kadel paced West with 9 points, including a late three-pointer, their only one of the second half. "RED hit about 8 threes, I believe," Kadel said. "We hit 3. That's five points. And the discrepancy in free throws? Ouch."
Kadel failed to mention another poor call that occured in the first frame. However, Grocer Joe was on top of it from the get-go sitting outside his locker. "How about the play where Kadel got pushed over on the fast break, only to get called for out-of-bounds? What's up with that crapola? We don't put up with that kind of (stuff) at Hy-Vee, (forget) that."
Steve Kullberg set a league record with 12 blocks in the losing effort. Koach K also finished with 4 points, 10 boards, and 4 fouls. "Filled my stat sheet," scorekeeper Jeffrey noted after the game.
In other news, the season-in-review DVD, "Sarge's RELAPSE," cover art was revealed this morning (pictured at left). It will include game-by-game analysis, player interviews, and a special "Baking with your Bremerton Buddy" short with April "Ap" Matney. Pre-orders will begin soon.
Stay tuned later this week as BremertonWest.com hands out their annual postseason awards.
