An Egg is Laid

There wasn't much to say in the post-game locker room after the Westies' 37-31 defeat at the hands of TEAM RED.  The sting of being outscored 16-8 in the second half was enough in itself.  Coach Sargent commented on the team's performance:

"We played hard.  That's all we can ask of the team.  So, tonight our shots weren't falling?  We've got to be better, to find a way to win.  But the stats?  Stats aren't important.  Wins and losses, that's what's important.  And tonight, collectively, we're just disappointed."

When asked about team majority owner Rod Stewart's assessment of his coaching performance this year, and how he felt not being brought back for next season on the bench, Sargent balked at throwing any rocks at ownership.  "I've got a ticket to Opening Day on Friday.  We're going out again on Saturday.  And, you know what?  I'm looking forward to the Masters golf tournament.  I've got Miguel Angel Jimenez in my fantasy pool."

The game versus TEAM RED saw the return of Westie HOF'er Steve "Coach" Kullberg, who paced B. West in blocked shots and rebounds, earning a double-double in just over 22 minutes of action.  "A little rusty," Coach said.  "But it will come eventually."

Nick Reddell, third team All-League last session, ended his session-two holdout just hours prior to tip-off.  In limited action, Reddell had a decent line of 4 points, 3 steals, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The scoring broke down as follows: Sargent-7, Roth-6, Plous-6, Kadel-4, Kullberg-4, Reddell-4, Burke-0, Cillessen-0.  Not the usual Bremerton performance we've come accustomed to, indeed.

West led at half, 23-21, but was held to just 8 points in the second frame.  Sargent, Roth, and Kullberg were all held scoreless in the second half.  "Motivation to be better the next time," Roth said before leaving the post-game.  "Next week is a new game."

NEXT TUESDAY, 4/14/09: Bremerton West plays Money Shots at 6:30PM at The Matt.  Money Shots previously beat Bremerton in session 1.  However, added bodies Kullberg and Brad Hill, to go along with Plous and Reddell, will ensure that West is prepared for the physical style of play that Money Shots employ.

GREEN & GOLD LINE: Neither side is talking, but rumors are afoot that Coach Sargent may end up at Xavier next season.  With the VCU, Arizona and Kentucky jobs all filled in the last ten days, XU would be a good fit for Sargent's flex-dribble-drive-motion offense....G Alex Carr did not suit up Tuesday (coach's decision), but should be in uniform for Money Shots....Kullberg wore #40 rather than his previous #45....Sargeque IV details will be emailed out no later than Saturday, 4/11/09....F Joe Burke has recovered from his viral illness but called himself only "80%" for last night's game....F/C Dave Plous will delay knee surgery until after the season on his bruised patella.

***Correction, Plous had 0 points on 0-4 shooting.
