Cillessen Placed on IR Indefinitely; Cool and Plous Sign FA Contracts

Bremerton West shored up their height issues Monday afternoon.  Just two days removed from learning SF Chad Cillessen would be unavailable for Tuesday night's game against the Money Shots, GM / Coach Matt Sargent signed two familiar faces for the remainder of the 2009 campaign: G/F Chris "Zul" Cool and F David "LCF13" Plous.

News travelled fast throughout BremerNation, as rumors had swirled all weekend that Sargent was thinking of bringing fresh legs into the fold.  "We worked out Cool and Plous over the weekend, they're both in game-ready shape, I would say," Sargent said when announcing the player contracts.  "So, with the potential loss of Chipper for an extended period of time, we wanted to look at getting some size, some veterans, who could step in and immediately impact the team."

Sargent has a notable track record when making in-season signings.  Past free agent pickups include Steve "Coach" Kullberg, perennial All-Star Mark DeBaun, and everyone's All-American, Andy Van Zante.  How do Cool and Plous fit into this year's lineup?  "Fairly well, I would think," Plous conceded.  "The spread-it offense they are employing really creates open looks.  It's amazing what they were able to do last week.  Imagine what this team can accomplish when no one cares who gets credit."

In addition to giving the Westies strength coming off the bench, the new signees sufficiently cut league fees down to $35 per player from the original $40 fee.  "That's what I'm talking," F Joe Burke was quoted.

Bremerton West tips off their second game of the season Tuesday night at The Matt, 6:30PM.  The Other Place once again is hosting the postgame festivities.
