With the postseason in full swing, Bremerton Press will be covering the Westies like never before. Championship hopes are still alive - who could've predicted that a week ago? Now read our newest feature, a weekly in-depth player interview:
Bremerton Press: Good afternoon. How do you feel after last night's victory?
Sherron Sarge: What's up? Uh....Vindication, that's what I, and the team, feel. I knew we were the dope show before last night. We just haven't clicked. Last night, it all came together. But we've still got room to improve. Sub-state, Regionals, State....the sky's the limit.
BP: So were did all this newfound confidence come from?
SS: The players have been up all year. I don't know if it's been one thing in particular, but we knew what we're capable of. It's just an outward confidence now because we finally came through on the court.
BP: Who is the MVP of the team this season?
SS: I'd hate to single out one guy....everyone knows their role, sticks to it. We play together as a team, and we do great things. I really feel like we're going to get back playing like we did in the championship season of '07.
BP: Are you saying, after just one victory in the regular season, and an upset against a depleted HNTB (Deucers) team, you're going to claim champ?
SS: First off, I'd hardly say they were "depleted." They had, what, 10 guys running last night? We had 6. DeBaun, Tilgner, Cool, and Roth were dominant. Burke and I played above the level we had previously been performing at. You wanna crown their asses, crown them! We ain't going out like that. Come this time next week, you'll see what we're made of. The Knicks are no lightweight opponent. You can print this: our 3-2 zone and new offensive sets are worrying the hell out of the Knicks scouting department, you can bet. How many steals did we get? How many post points did they have? Please. We've got nothing to lose, and we're going to let it all hang out every time we step on the floor.
