It seems that no one is safe from scrutiny these days. In the minutes, hours, and days since Zul came out of last week's loss to the Knicks, the rumors that have been swirling for weeks came to a head this weekend with the release of the Paul Mitchell Report. The scathing, rambling, two-paragraph blip that has cut right to the core of Bremerton fans appears to implicate Zul's usage of Paul Mitchell's hair products. The unfortunate fact is, of course, that Zul has no hair, thereby negating any need for such application. Said teammate Mark DeBaun: "I'm shocked. He hasn't needed shampoo for several years now. What's next? We find a razor and shaving cream in Plous's travel kit?"
Team and league representatives were not immediately available for comment Monday morning.
On his charitable website, for the "Zul Ruls the Kids" Foundation, representatives for Zul had this to say:
Due to unforseen circumstances, G/F Christopher F.P. "Zul" Cool will be listed as INACTIVE for Tuesday night's game at the Matt Ross Center. He appreciates all the well-wishes from his fans, the emails, flowers, and bags of pretzels you have sent. Once everything comes out, his name will be cleared, and "Zul will once again Rule."
In what is believed to be a related news story, team strength and conditioning coach Zul stepped down from his position Sunday evening. Team chaplain Zul will stay with the staff for the time being.
More on this, as well as player and coach reactions, to be posted in the evening edition.
