A new year, a new league, a new arena. Will the excitement of the these new surroundings give Bremerton West the push it needs to bring home its second league title in 3 seasons? We hope to answer that question, and much more, with our 2008 Bremerton At-a-glance....
Tomorrow night, the Westies open up at the Black Sheep, who have been a perennial middle-of-the-pack squad. League analysts predict a dominant Bremerton performance.
Head Coach Rex Walters believes that his squad will be ready to play mentally, but may see an extended period of poor performance physically until they attain thier playing rhythm. "Some of these guys, they just aren't in game shape as of yet. But it will come. Those not up to snuff will, obviously, be sidelined in favor of those ready to give 100%." Walters added that he had not yet decided on a starting line-up for the game. "We'll see who shows me the most in the time leading up to tip-off," he noted.

The full roster of players will likely see several substitutions and line changes early in the season, before settling on a solid rotation by game 3 or 4, which is similar in pattern to what former head coach Matt Sargent would invoke.
The biggest mystery may be transfer Justin Burns, the newest member of the squad. Recruited heavily to play in the Tomahawk Dome League, Burns chose to sign with Bremerton West on the recommendation of All-Conference forward Rian Tilgner. Said Director of Player Personnel Zul: "he's going to add yet another dimension to the team." We'll have to wait until Tuesday night to see if this highly-touted recruit lives up to his billing.
NEWS & NOTES....Bremerton should be at full-strength for the season opener for the first time in franchise history....man-to-man defense has been re-instated by Coach Walters....leading scorer from last season, Rian Tilgner, is a preseason Eustachy Award Finalist, along with swingman Chris Cool, and center Mark DeBaun....pre-game coverage of the game starts at 7:15 CST.
